Rob Schreiner

Rob was a student of Rostrevor College and his handball connection started at Junior Level in 1978 when Rob represented SA in both the Singles and Doubles (Partner - Andrew Gava) at the Australian Handball Championships in Melbourne

After one year in the juniors Rob moved straight to Senior Pennant joining the Rostrevor Handball Club and played for two years before having a break and then returned to Handball again joining The Rostrevor Club and where he stayed as a player until the breakdown of the then four team pennant competition.

In those early years of Pennant competition, Rob was successful in picking up a number of Pennant ‘Best & Fairest’ and ’Best Average’ awards.

In 1996 Rob was selected to State Handball (O’Connor Cup) when he then became an automatic selection for the next eleven years and during this time was selected into two Australian Eight Teams in 1999 & 2008

After finishing his O’Connor campaigns, Rob continued in the Pennant competition and with other senior players, Rob has been developing junior players in playing with and against them as they have been coming through the ranks which has been great in maintaining a good SAHA Pennant program.

With 1-Wall Handball Pennant now being regularly played over the winter months, Rob has been involved in both playing and growing the game and has played 87 1-Wall Pennant Games and fast approaching his 100-game milestone for 1-Wall.

Rob has been a great supporter in playing and fostering 1 & 3-Wall Handball as well as playing his part in the administration and all through his playing career he has very much enjoyed the social side of the game which the SAHA is very thankful.
