Dom Morabito
Dom was a student of Christian Brothers College in 2006 and had missed seeing the magnificent Wakefield 3-Wall court which was lost through College renovations in 2002. However, Dom was attracted to the 1-Wall court that was built as the 3-Wall Courts replacement.
In 2005 the SAHA set up a Handball junior promotion in both CBC and Rostrevor Colleges to stimulate students into playing handball and subsequently be selected in a junior team to represent Australia at the Edmonton (Canada) World Handball Championships. Dom was the first of three juniors selected.
Dom then went on to play in his first Pennant Season in 2006/7 for the Rostrevor Handball Club. During this period, Dom won 2 State Junior Singles and 3 Junior Doubles Titles and went onto win a Junior Singles and 2 Doubles Australian Championships.
By 2013 Dom had played his 100th Pennant Game and represented the State in the ‘Pipkorn Cup’ competition. Dom’s overhead, round and under arm style of game is distinctive and has moved him on to representing the State in O’Connor Cup in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2022. Dom has notched up two State Open Doubles Titles 2012 and in 2017.
Dom along his handball journey to date has also picked up a number of ‘A’ 1-Wall and 4-Wall Titles.
Dom has represented Australia at the World 1-Wall Championships on 3 occasions and represented Australia in Japan in their Open 1-Wall Championships.
